Miami Equestrian offers summer riding camps tailored to those with no previous riding experience as well as those actively competing with aspirations of riding on a college team. We welcome all levels of riders in three disciplines: hunt seat, western and dressage ages 8–18.

Half Day Camps

Half Day camp is designed for the beginner rider as well as the younger competitor ages 8–14. Camp activities vary week to week, but include daily riding lessons and other horse related activities. Campers will learn how to groom, tack, ride, and care for their horses while enjoying fun camp games and activities with and about their horse friends. Camp runs 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. with an option to extend the day with Miami REC kids camp.

Full Day Camp

The full day camp is designed for riders ages 10–18 who have some prior riding experience and are comfortable grooming, tacking, and receiving discipline specific riding instruction in an arena setting. Camp runs 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.; multiple riding lessons each day.

Cost: Members $385 Non-Members $425

Group lessons are available for all riding levels and disciplines. Lessons are a great work out and stress reliever. Miami students receive a discounted rate during the school year. To inquire about your group’s visit please complete the survey and you will be contacted by the equestrian center

Throughout the summer, community riding lessons are offered to both youth and adults wishing to further their riding. We welcome all levels of hunt seat, western and dressage. 

Community Riding Lessons - Youth and Adult

The Miami University Equestrian Center offers community riding lessons to riders of all levels in Hunt Seat, Western, and Dressage. Lessons are taught on Miami horses by our experienced staff. Through the summer, lessons are offered weekly and a discount is offered when multiple lessons are booked at the same time. All riders must be 8 years or older.

Tour of the Equestrian Center at Miami University.Tours and Team Building

Miami Equestrian enjoys sharing about their facility and programming and allowing others both on campus and in the community to experience the mystique of a horse. School groups, 4-H groups, sororities and fraternities, corporate groups, Girl Scout and Boy Scout Troops, athletic teams are just a few of the groups that have come for a tour and to see what the equestrian center has to offer.

Group Programming at Miami Equestrian Center

The Miami University Equestrian Center offers team building and equestrian experiences to members of the Miami and surrounding communities. These programs are open to anyone, whether your group is a greek organization, a company, or a team.

Team Building A: Unmounted Team Building

In the unmounted team building experience, participants will get a tour of the equestrian facility, will have the opportunity to work in small groups to groom and work with the horses, and then lead the horse through an obstacle course. The program works to develop communication, leadership skills, and group dynamics.

Cost: $15/person

Minimum: 12 participants

Maximum: 36 participants

Timeframe: approximately 3 hours

Team Building B:  Mounted Team Building

In the mounted team building experience, each participant will get to ride for about 30 minutes in groups, watch a video and learn to prepare their horses for riding. The program works to develop leadership skills and group dynamics through matching the personalities of the horse and the rider.

Cost $35/person

Timeframe approximately 3 hours for a group of 24

Guided Barn Tour

The guided barn tour is a free experience offered by the equestrian center. A one hour tour of Miami’s facilities by a trained staff member will give you insight into the daily workings of our facility. This tour is open to large groups and people of all ages.

Mounted Experience - Single Group Riding Lesson

This experience is designed for visiting groups of campus organizations who would like to ride. This experience offers a tour of our facility and the chance to have a one hour riding lesson in groups of 6 taught by our experienced staff. Advance planning is required to schedule lesson time.
