Admission

To be eligible to enroll in a music degree program at Miami University, you must

• be admitted to Miami University
• be admitted to the Department of Music

These are not the same thing; related, yes, but separate.

Admission to the Department of Music depends on an audition, which can occur live the Miami University campus in Oxford or via recording.

Each academic year the Department of Music conducts auditions on several specific dates, mostly during the spring semester. No further dates are scheduled for the current academic year, but a special audition might be arranged.  Contact the Department of Music (music@MiamiOH.edu, 513-519-3014) for information.

Each area, program, or instrument has particular audition requirements.

For Undergraduate Admission

Apply to Miami University via the Office of Admissions website.  Specify MUSIC as your intended major.

For Graduate Admission

Apply to Miami University via the Graduate Studies website.  See the Graduate Admission page for specific requirements for admission to the Department of Music.
