As Ohio’s only Center of Excellence in Aging and a nationally renowned leader, the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University advances research, workforce training, and innovation to strengthen communities and improve the quality of life for older adults. For 36 years, Scripps has advised the Ohio General Assembly and executive agencies on long-term care and workforce needs. Its three-decade longitudinal study, supported by the Ohio Department of Aging, was cited by the Pew Charitable Trusts as a national model for data-driven policymaking. Through Individualized Positive Psychosocial Interaction and Opening Minds Through Art, two nationally recognized dementia care programs, Scripps strengthens care quality, community engagement, and workforce preparation.
