LEADS Institute

The LEADS Institute is an Academic Excellence and Leadership Accelerator launched in 2021 by the College of Arts and Science supported in part by a generous gift from alum David Koschik '79 and his wife Izumi Hara. The LEADS Institute’s primary mission is to provide innovative, high-touch and comprehensive student-success programming to accelerate talented students' successful transition to and in college, and strengthen their potential to become competitive candidates for graduate and professional school or competitive employment opportunities.

Our Goal

The LEADS institute's goal is to better address high-achieving diverse students' academic, professional, cultural, and social interests, and enhance their experiences and sense of belonging in the college and university beginning in their first year.

Our Foundational Pillars

LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE ACHIEVEMENT DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP

The pillars (areas of impact) of the LEADS Institute are all interdependent. All four foundational pillars are the building blocks of the LEADS Institute and its different scholars and programs. We expect our scholars to demonstrate leadership and a commitment to serving others, to strive for excellence in developing knowledge and skills for success, to be high-achieving students, to respect diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives, and to become future thought leaders, forward-thinkers, and scholars in their discipline or perspective careers.

Our Signature Initiatives

Humanities and Social Science Scholars Program (HASS)

The Humanities and Social Science (HASS) Scholars Program is the inaugural student success program from the new LEADS Institute, an Academic Excellence and Leadership Accelerator, in the College of Arts and Science (CAS).

The goal of the HASS Scholars Program is to provide additional academic and personal support to ensure student success in CAS and Miami.
