Miami Graduate Tuba Student selected to perform in the CSO
Miami graduate student John Miller was selected to perform as second tuba in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's recent performance of Also Sprach Zarathustra.
"The first time a young player gets to play in a World Class Major orchestra like Cincinnati Symphony, they’ll learn more in that week of rehearsals and concerts than any amount of practicing or taking lessons," says professor Christopher Olka. "John Miller displayed the level of playing and talent that indicated he was ready for just that type of opportunity. I’m glad I was able to give him that chance, and he didn’t disappoint."
Miller is a tubist and private low brass instructor based in the Cincinnati area, currently pursuing a Masters degree at Miami University. Miller received a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of South Florida. During his time in Florida, he was a substitute tubist for the Venice Symphony, Lakeland Symphony, Florida Wind Band, and Tampa Brass Band.
