Returning for the first time since COVID, the Miami University Performing Arts Series and The Department of Music are coming together to showcase student talent at Cincinnati’s storied concert venue, Music Hall on Monday, April 17th at 7:30pm. The event spotlights the Wind Ensemble (Director Gary A. Speck) and Symphony Band (Director Brooke Johnson).
The Miami University Performing Arts Series is thrilled to revive this tradition. Patti Liberatore of PAS said, “We love partnering with the Department of Music to present this unique opportunity to put our talented Music students on the big, stage of the majestic Music Hall in downtown Cincinnati. It's quite a thrill to be in that beautiful, historic space. We also use the opportunity to invite Miami alumni, prospective students and the performers' parents to join us in celebrating our student performers.”
Professor and Conductor Brooke Johnson is very excited for the opportunity that this event affords to get students in front of a larger audience. She says, “I'm mostly just excited to give the students an exciting, new opportunity to share their talents. They work so hard in rehearsals, and we cannot wait to put on a spectacular show!”
The program features works by Holst, Day, Shostakovich, and Grantham. Some highlights of the evening include faculty solo performances by Professors Doug Linsday, Jamie Morales-Matos, and Aaron Pergrem. Tickets will be available via the Music Hall box office and are $6 for students with the promo code CLASS.
