Miami University Performing Arts Series brings 50 years of experience to their annual summer Drama Camp

Miami University Performing Arts Series is excited to announce the return of the highly anticipated Missoula Children's Theatre Drama Camp, a unique and enriching summer experience for area kids ages 6-18. This year's camp promises to be a fantastic opportunity for families, especially those with multiple children, to come together and participate in a week of creativity, teamwork, and fun.

The Missoula Children's Theatre Drama Camp will run from August 5-10, 2024, at the Miami University campus. Throughout the week, campers will engage in a variety of theatrical activities, including acting, singing, and dancing, culminating in a full-scale production that will be performed for the community on the final day.

We are thrilled to once again partner with the Missoula Children's Theatre to bring this incredible camp to our community. It's a wonderful opportunity for children to develop their artistic skills, build confidence, and make lasting memories. Plus, it's a great way for families to spend quality time together, with siblings of different ages all able to participate.

The Missoula Children's Theatre has been bringing drama camps to communities across the country for 50 years and is renowned for its commitment to providing high-quality, accessible theater education. With a pair of professional tour directors, the camp ensures that every child, regardless of their experience level, receives personalized attention and support. Campers will be cast in roles tailored to their age and abilities, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all. Along with the excitement of performing on stage the camp focuses on teamwork and building life skills for the participants throughout the week.

This year's show, "Gulliver's Travels" set in space, promises to take audiences on an intergalactic adventure. With his ship wrecked and his trusty computer JCN on the fritz, brave explorer Gulliver finds himself lost in space with nothing but an Invisible Force to guide him! While transporting from world to world, under the control of the Maniacal Scientist of Lapunta, Gulliver discovers fighting aliens, arrogant Horse Leaders of the foolish Yahoos, larger-than-life royalty (in more ways than one), and robots – all who need just as much help from Gulliver as Gulliver needs from them! Tune in as this sci-fi spin on the timeless tale of Gulliver's Travels takes you out of this world!

The camp will culminate in a public performance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9th, where the young actors will showcase their talents. Tickets for the performance will be available on the night for $5 a piece (Please remember Miami is a cashless campus).
