Graduate Student Spotlight: Kelley Booze

Miami University graduate student Kelley Booze is making an impact across the regional, national, and international art scenes with a series of impressive accomplishments this year. A talented interdisciplinary artist, Booze’s recent and upcoming exhibitions, performances, and professional milestones reflect her creative vision and growing influence.

Booze, who will soon complete her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art at Miami University, has had three paintings selected for a group exhibition at the Allen County Museum in Lima, Ohio. Curated by Christine Fowler Shearer, From Fields to Facades: Ohio Landscapes will be on view from May 10 to July 27, 2025. The exhibition explores the diverse landscapes of Ohio through the works of celebrated regional artists.

Continuing her collaborative spirit, Booze will also be featured in Invisible Women, an interdisciplinary performance at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Running from May 30 to June 14, 2025, this unique project is organized by Miami University Dance Professor Ashley Goos and includes collaborations with Miami Architecture Professor Diane Fellows, and other area choreographers and dancers. The performance will be held at Miami’s community space in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

“My time at Miami University has been a transformative journey, where the support of my peers and faculty not only guided my artistic growth but also challenged me to explore new directions and possibilities in my work,” Booze stated.

This summer, Booze’s talents will be further showcased in a solo exhibition titled Unfolding Unknowing at Thomas More University in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. Opening on August 18 and running through September 11, 2025, the exhibition will culminate with a closing reception and artist talk on September 11 at 3:30 p.m. The show will feature her evocative drawings and other mixed media works.

Expanding her international reach, Booze’s video artwork will be included in Humanity, a group exhibition at CICA Museum in Gimpo, South Korea, scheduled for January 2026.

“The College of Creative Arts has provided me with profound connections and a solid foundation, empowering all students to engage with the world in meaningful ways,” Booze described.

Building on her growing list of professional milestones, Booze has recently accepted a full-time position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Art at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. Starting in August 2025, she will teach courses in painting and drawing, bringing her dynamic approach to inspire the next generation of artists.

Booze’s career is already distinguished by a history of artistic excellence. She earned her BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design in 2009, and her work has been widely exhibited in institutions such as the Zanesville Museum of Art, the Springfield Museum of Art, and the Riffe Gallery in Columbus. She has completed international artist residencies in France and Scotland, was named a Spotlight Artist by the Ohio Governor, and received an Individual Excellence Award from the Ohio Arts Council.

Miami University celebrates Booze’s remarkable achievements and looks forward to the continued impact of her vibrant artistic practice both locally and abroad.
