Admission is free.

Public invited to free final concerts of the Alan Fraser Piano Institute
Each concert marks the culmination of a weeklong immersive piano training session led by internationally acclaimed pianist and pedagogue Alan Fraser. The Institute explores the fusion of musical interpretation and body awareness through Fraser’s unique approach known as Piano Somatics, which is rooted in the Feldenkrais Method—a technique designed to reduce pain, improve movement, and enhance overall awareness.
What makes these final recitals especially distinctive is their participatory beginnings: Fraser will lead the seated audience in a brief Feldenkrais lesson aimed at enhancing listening ability and sensory engagement. This interactive warm-up offers audience members a deeper, more connected listening experience—one that aligns with the Institute’s mission of fostering holistic musicianship.

Held during the heart of summer, the July 4 performance offers an enriching cultural alternative on a day typically filled with celebration and festivity. Meanwhile, the July 11 recital provides another opportunity to experience the artistry of Fraser’s students and the pedagogy that continues to influence pianists worldwide.
This is the third year Miami University has hosted summer sessions of the Fraser Institute in Presser Hall, and plans are already underway for the 2026 institute.
