RCCAM Reopens August 26 with Department of Art Faculty and Alumni Exhibition
The Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum (RCCAM) at Miami University is excited to welcome visitors back on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, with the opening of our new featured exhibition: the Department of Art Faculty & Alumni Exhibition. On view through December 13, 2025, this quadrennial exhibition celebrates the artistry and innovation of 39 faculty and alumni whose work represents the continuing legacy of Miami’s Department of Art.
Visitors will experience a wide range of artistic approaches and media—painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, collage, photography, animation, time-based media, and more. While there is no single theme uniting the works, the exhibition reflects diverse perspectives on topics such as identity, lineage, memory, nature, and the human experience.
Exhibition Programs and Events
A robust lineup of programs accompanies the exhibition, offering opportunities to hear directly from artists and engage in hands-on creativity:
Miniature to Monumental | Susan Ewing
Thu, Sept 4 | 5:50–7:15 p.m. — Contemporary Art Forum / Artist Talk
Distinguished Professor Emerita and renowned artist Susan Ewing returns for an intimate and thought-provoking talk that explores the power of scale and transformation in contemporary art. Ewing will reflect on her career-spanning practice, sharing how her intricate hand-crafted small objects translate into sweeping public sculptures.
Pen to Plastic / Pen to Paper | Billy Simms and Margaret Luongo
Wed, Sept 10 | 5–7 p.m. — Artist Talk / Workshop
Featuring interdisciplinary artist and educator Billy Simms alongside Margaret Luongo, Professor of Creative Writing. This hands-on workshop invites participants to explore a tracing technique using plexiglass and Sharpie markers to capture an outdoor landscape. Longtime photography professor Ron Stevens leads an interactive session exploring the nature of creativity: how it works, why it matters, and how to unlock it in your own life. Participants will dive into the myths and truths of creative thinking while engaging with photography as a tool for discovery.

Wed, Oct 15 | 12–12:30 p.m. — Spotlight Tour
