Miami University Hosts Art and Design Day for Future Artists and Designers

The Department of Art at Miami University invites high school students and prospective transfer students to experience what it means to be a RedHawk artist during Art & Design Day, held Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event, hosted in the Arts Quad on Miami University’s Oxford, Ohio campus, offers future students a first-hand look at Miami’s nationally recognized programs in Studio Art, Art Education, Art & Architecture History, Communication Design, and Fashion.

Participants will:

  • Showcase their creativity — Students are encouraged to bring artwork or writings for display in a pop-up exhibition, with a chance to earn scholarships.
  • Engage with faculty and peers — Enjoy lunch alongside professors and current students while exploring pathways in art and design.
  • Discover opportunities — Learn about admissions, portfolios, scholarships, and career possibilities in the creative industries.
  • Get hands-on — Take part in small artmaking workshops in Miami’s studios and tour facilities guided by student ambassadors.

Special opportunities: Participants will be eligible to win one of five scholarships that will be awarded (one $5,000 award and four $1,000 awards). Scholarship recipients must attend Art & Design Day, bring a work to display in the pop-up exhibit, and apply to the Department of Art by Dec. 1, 2025. The winners will be announced on Dec. 10. In addition, the application fee will be waived for all students attending Art & Design Day.

“We want students to see firsthand the vibrancy of Miami’s creative community,” said Chair Amanda Alexander, “This event is about connecting passion to possibility.”
