College of Creative Arts welcomes first-year students with creative kickoff
The College of Creative Arts (CCA) launched the new academic year in style during Welcome Weekend on August 24, hosting an outdoor gathering designed to celebrate community, creativity, and connection.
Incoming first-year students were greeted with lunch before diving into a series of hands-on activities, including dorm décor crafts, pot painting with succulent planting, and a colorful CCA t-shirt tie-dye station. The afternoon buzzed with energy as students bonded over creative projects and got their first taste of life in the CCA community.
Dean Ryan Fisher added to the excitement by sharing college “pro tips” to inspire and encourage the new class as they embark on their Miami journey. His advice set an uplifting tone for the year ahead, helping students feel both supported and energized.
Reflecting on the day, Chad Reynolds, Assistant Dean and Lead Divisional Advisor, said:
“It was great to see the campus ‘all a buzz’ again, and for our students to be welcomed by Dean Fisher with fun activities before classes begin. Meeting our incoming class is always a highlight and a great way to set the tone for the coming academic year. The excitement and variety of students joining the CCA family this fall made for a great day! I enjoyed seeing the connections and collaborations that were already taking place. The words and activities from Dean Fisher were a great way to get to know a little more about everyone and a fun way to engage.”
The event showcased the creative spirit of the College and gave students the chance to connect with one another, faculty, and staff in a welcoming environment. A group photo (below) captured the energy and excitement of the day.
