Professor of oboe Andrea Ridilla to become next president of the College Music Society, Great Lakes Chapter
Andrea Ridilla, professor of oboe in the Department of Music at Miami University will assume her new role as President in April 2026.
The College of Music Society’s Great Lakes Chapter encompasses seven U.S. states: Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, and the Canadian provinces of Montreal and Ontario. Ridilla will assume the Presidency of the Great Lakes Chapter in April 2026 for a two-year term.
“I am very excited to bring Miami University to the forefront of this prestigious society to be hosting the 2027 annual Chapter Conference on our campus,” said Ridilla.
The College Music Society (CMS) is an organization dedicated to the advancement of the scholarship of music education, composition, performance, and technology. It is highly-regarded in higher education and provides opportunities for its members to explore innovative ideas beyond the standard curricula by hosting speakers and presentations of its membership. All invitations are extended only after a blind jury reviewing process.
Within the context of the College Music Society, Ridilla has been an active member for several years, having presented at numerous conferences in the US, Croatia, and Estonia. Her performance in Croatia led to an invitation to record the CD, "Awakening," of the music of Slovenian composer, Blaz Pucihar with Dr. Nicole Molumby on flute. Ridilla is internationally recognized for her expertise in both performing and teaching. Her oboe students regularly win solo competitions and fellowships to prestigious graduate schools such as Northwestern University, the Eastman School of Music, Carnegie-Mellon University, the University of Southern California, and Yale University School of Music. Professor Ridilla holds music performance degrees from The Juilliard School and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
