Liz Martin-Malikian Appointed to AIA Ohio Board as Schools Director
Liz Martin-Malikian, Chair and Professor of Architecture and Interior Design at Miami University, has been appointed to serve as Schools Director on the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Ohio Board, a prestigious statewide leadership role within the American Institute of Architects.
The appointment was extended by Charlie Setterfield, 2026 President of AIA Ohio, who cited Martin-Malikian’s leadership, perspective, and connection to architectural education as key assets to the organization’s mission.
In accepting the role, Martin-Malikian emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between education and professional practice across Ohio.
As Schools Director, Martin-Malikian will represent one of Ohio’s accredited schools of architecture and take part in all Board deliberations, holding full voting responsibilities. The AIA Ohio Board convenes six times annually and plays a central role in guiding statewide architectural initiatives, professional development, and design excellence.
Setterfield congratulated Martin-Malikian on both her recent appointment as Chair at Miami University and her new leadership role within AIA Ohio, noting that the position provides a meaningful platform to connect architects and educators throughout the state while advancing the future of the profession.
