Liz Martin-Malikian appointed Chair of ACSA Leadership Committee
Chair and Professor of Architecture + Interior Design, Liz Martin-Malikian, has been appointed Chair of the Leadership Committee for the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), effective July 1, 2026.
ACSA is the primary international organization representing architecture schools and programs in higher education. In this leadership role, Martin-Malikian will work with ACSA President June Williamson to help guide conversations around architectural education, academic leadership, accreditation, and the future of the discipline.
“I think this will be a valuable opportunity for Miami to have a seat at the table in broader conversations surrounding architectural education, leadership, accreditation, and the future direction of the discipline,” Martin-Malikian said.
As chair of the Leadership Committee, she will participate in board meetings and strategic planning initiatives throughout the year, including the organization’s summer board meeting and committee summit in Washington, D.C.
Dean Ryan Fisher congratulated Martin-Malikian on the appointment, noting the significance of the role for both the department and the university.
“Liz is a thoughtful and highly respected leader whose contributions to architectural education extend well beyond our campus,” Fisher said. “Her appointment to this important leadership role reflects both her expertise and Miami University’s growing presence in national conversations about the future of design and architecture education.”
Martin-Malikian has served as chair of Miami’s Department of Architecture + Interior Design since July 1, 2025, and has been an active leader in advancing design education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and student engagement within the College of Creative Arts.
“I’m honored to serve in this role and look forward to working alongside colleagues across ACSA to support meaningful dialogue and shared leadership in architectural education,” Martin-Malikian said. “At a time of significant change in higher education, I’m excited for the opportunity to help shape conversations about the future of the discipline and represent Miami University on a national stage.”
