Teaching Professor Artie Kuhn receives 2026 Curry Award for teaching excellence
Teaching Professor Artie Kuhn of Miami University's Emerging Technology in Business and Design (ETBD) program has been named the 2026 recipient of the College of Creative Arts' Curry Award, one of the college's highest honors recognizing excellence in teaching.

Teaching Professor Artie Kuhn of Miami University's Emerging Technology in Business and Design (ETBD) program has been named the 2026 recipient of the College of Creative Arts' Curry Award, one of the college's highest honors recognizing excellence in teaching.
Presented annually, the Curry Award celebrates faculty members who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to student learning and make a lasting impact through their teaching, mentorship, and innovation in the classroom.
Kuhn was selected following a competitive nomination process. The College of Creative Arts Awards and Recognition Committee praised his exceptional teaching, innovative instructional methods, and dedication to student success.
"Artie exemplifies the very best of our teaching mission," said Ryan Fisher, dean of the College of Creative Arts. "His ability to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences, challenge students to think creatively, and foster an environment where they can thrive has had a profound impact on our students. He is an exceptional educator, mentor, and colleague, and I am thrilled to see him receive this well-deserved recognition."
Throughout his time at Miami, Kuhn has taught a wide range of ETBD courses, helping students develop technical, creative, and problem-solving skills through hands-on learning. His classes emphasize collaboration and real-world application, encouraging students to solve design challenges while considering user needs and client goals.
Known for bringing creativity into the classroom, Kuhn incorporates interactive teaching tools—including Makey Makey boards—to make coding concepts more accessible and engaging. Beyond traditional coursework, he has mentored numerous student capstone projects, providing opportunities to work with real clients and build professional portfolios that have helped graduates launch careers in design and technology.
Kuhn has also played a significant role in strengthening the ETBD curriculum, leading program assessment efforts and contributing to continuous improvements that benefit current and future students.
In addition, he created and teaches a Study Away workshop focused on experience design at Walt Disney World, giving students the opportunity to examine how immersive environments are designed while applying classroom concepts in a professional setting.
Students and alumni consistently credit Kuhn with inspiring confidence, encouraging curiosity, and preparing them for successful careers through his mentorship and commitment to experiential learning.
