What inspired you to create for BLINK?
My brother was in this class two years ago, so I went to BLINK to see his animation on the building. That kind of inspired me to do it this year because I love BLINK, and I love that it brings the city together, so I wanted to be a part of that. I also love making the stuff that goes on the screens. I am one of the two 3D animation leads.
What surprised you about yourself while working on such a big project like this?
I think I surprised myself in a positive way because I wasn't sure if I would be able to fully spend all my time on a project. I know I'm a busy person, and I have a lot of different things going on. But for a project like BLINK, where it is this real-world application and a big thing, just being a part of that has given me the motivation to prioritize it and put a lot of time into it, while still being able to keep up with all of my other commitments, which I think was incredible.
How does it feel to know so many people will see your animation work?
Oh, it feels wonderful. I just like to think of it as I'm on the improv comedy team here on campus, and I go about this with the same mentality. I go about this as if I'm on site and I see one person I make smile or one person think “Oh, that's cool.” That's enough for me. The impact it can have on one person and the possibility that it will impact so many more people after that—it's my motivation for doing all this.
