Miami doctoral student elected first Black woman to West Carrollton school board

Dormetria Robinson Thompson, a Miami University Ph.D. student in educational leadership, has been elected as the first Black woman to serve on the West Carrollton City School Board. A minister, former teacher, and founder of the Scholars of H.O.P.E. after-school program, Robinson Thompson ran unopposed and says she hopes her presence brings meaningful representation to students and families. Her background in education and community development continues to shape her commitment to serving local schools.
