Kayleigh Gregory, from the Department of Family Science of Social Work, is the principal investigator on a $526,428 HRSA sub-award to Miami University through the University of Kentucky. The grant aims to improve maternal mental health outcomes in rural Kentucky by expanding access to perinatal mental and behavioral healthcare, strengthening provider capacity, and reducing barriers to care. It will build a sustainable network of rural providers and trained social workers, increase access to qualified mental health professionals, and improve screening, referrals, care coordination, and community awareness through training, telehealth, and other supportive services. The Discovery Center will be the project evaluator for the award.
