Rich Ceronie ’89 ’93, who earned a master’s degree in Physical Education and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Miami, published three books on the history of sport. “Wolftracks” – split into three volumes – spans the history of the University of New Mexico cross country and track and field program from 1903 to 2023. Ceronie built a winning track and field program with the New Mexico Lobos throughout his more than a decade of coaching with the university.
Ceronie was also the long-time head coach of Miami University women’s cross country and track and field teams from 1984 to 2008. Coaching three U.S. Olympic Trials qualifiers, four conference athletes of the year, more than 60 conference champions, and 13 NCAA All-Americans, he won Mid American Conference Coach of the Year twice during his tenure with the Redhawks. Ceronie earned his spot in Miami University’s Cradle of Coaches and was inducted in 2018.
