What do you like best about your majors?
“I love that it applies directly to my life. I learned about the human body every day and how to fuel it and how to care for it. So, I get to take what I learned in the classroom and put it into practice, whether it's through my own training or helping friends with their programming, and really taking a closer look at the things that I put into my body to make sure that I'm as healthy as I can be.”
Summer research project
“We are running a study where we give people a scooter for a week and have them ride that instead of walk. We're looking at the impacts of that short-term physical inactivity on a multitude of different measures of cardiometabolic health. My focus is mainly on the vascular measures — So what impact that has on vascular function, arterial stiffness, and different measures of central blood pressure, which are great indicators of future cardiovascular disease.”
Why was Miami the right choice for you?
“Miami was the right choice for me because it's not too big or too small. I don't feel like I'm lost in this giant sea of students. And I think what I've gained the most from my experience at Miami is my relationships with my professors. I've grown really close to a few of them and been able to ask them questions that maybe I wouldn't feel comfortable if I was in a lecture hall of 180 people. Getting that one-on-one, hands-on experience of working in the lab with them has been invaluable.”
Campus connections
“Everybody here seems to really love Miami and really care about the school and the campus. Students are always willing to help other students. Professors are always willing to help. Everyone's there if you need them. It is truly Love and Honor forever.”
