Leadership and Employment

Student leaders play an integral role in implementing the mission of Student Transitions and Family Engagement (STFE). By working with orientation or supporting the year-round functions of OTP, student leaders will:

• learn about leadership styles and strategies.
• build interpersonal and intrapersonal competence.
• become more familiar with Miami University and its structures.
• better understand issues of college student transitions.
• improve written and verbal communication skills.
• learn and practice group facilitation and teamwork strategies.

Graduate students contribute to the mission of Student Transitions and Family Engagement in significant ways. By working with orientation or supporting the year-round functions of STFE, graduate students will:

• support new students and families through orientation and transition programs. 
• serve as a consultant to undergraduate student leaders.
• implement academic theories and concepts into practice.
• build interpersonal and intrapersonal competence.
• become more familiar with university organizational structures and philosophies.
• better understand college student transitions.
