Miami University’s CedarTech location in Cleveland will serve as a destination for collaboration, include office and classroom areas, and be the hub for the institution’s Urban Bridges initiative.

A private event to commemorate the space, located on the fourth floor of the CedarTech office building at 10900 Carnegie Ave., is scheduled for Aug. 25. Miami President Gregory Crawford; Ande Durojaiye, Miami’s vice president for strategy and partnerships; and a representative from Cleveland Clinic are among the expected speakers.

Built in 1956, the CedarTech building is 49,205 square feet and positioned in the Cleveland Innovation District. Miami occupies 7,022 square feet in the facility.

Durojaiye pointed to several positives with the university having such a strong presence in Cleveland.

“Cleveland has an enormous amount of experiential learning opportunities for our students,” Durojaiye said. “A brick-and-mortar space in the city allows Miami students to build community there that also has that connectivity to the university. It helps us impact a city that is three hours away from our Oxford campus in really meaningful ways.”

Miami University has space on the fourth floor of the CedarTech building in the Cleveland Innovation District, including areas for classroom use.

The Cleveland Innovation District connects healthcare and higher education with the purpose of creating jobs, educating the future workforce, and accelerating research.

In January 2025, Cleveland Clinic and Miami announced their groundbreaking partnership. This past summer, 28 Miami students received internship opportunities through Cleveland Clinic.

As part of the relationship, Miami also named the Cleveland Clinic Health Sciences and Wellness facility, a state-of-the-art 165,000-square-foot building; established the first Bachelor of Science in Quantum Computing in Ohio; collaborated with Cleveland Clinic on a Master of Education in Health Professions degree program; and the two entities were awarded $7 million from the state of Ohio to establish the Ohio Institute for Quantum Computing Research, Talent, and Commercialization.

“Cleveland Clinic has been an incredible partner,” said Michelle Thomas, Miami’s assistant vice president for corporate relations. “Having a physical presence will open more doors for corporate partnerships and for community engagement across the Cleveland area. This is really the start of something very exciting.”

Thomas noted the CedarTech space will be used for alumni events, as well as a meeting place for both current and prospective students and their families.

“This shows our commitment,” Thomas said. “This is another step in our journey to show what we can do for future students. We are meeting the moment.”
