Jordan Fenton, associate professor of Art History, presented his paper "Art and Herbalism: Performing the Impossible in Nigeria" at the Creative Practices and Bridging the Invisible conference, held Oct. 15-17 at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. With this paper, Fenton turns attention to a new direction in his research: herbalism in Nigeria in which he demonstrates it as not only deeply integrated into local cultural performances, but the broader community for purposes of protection, harm, and healing.
