The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) supports the university's planning and decision-making processes through the analysis and dissemination of information about students, faculty/staff, and finances as well as through the administration and analysis of institutional surveys and research projects. OIR serves as a resource for all Miami University campuses.

Common Data Set (CDS)

The CDS is used to provide data for college guidebooks, rankings (e.g., U.S. News rankings), and other external requests. Restricted to the Oxford campus, the CDS provides limited data related to: Admissions, Degrees, Enrollment, Faculty & Class Size, Graduation & Retention, Tuition & Financial Aid, Academic Offerings, and Student Life.

Fact Sheets

One page executive summaries of information about the university (created annually).

First Destinations (Alumni)

Institutional Research provides annual summaries of the educational and career placements of alumni who graduated during the previous year.

Fact Book

The Fact Book provides data about Miami University, broken down by campus, and is produced annually. It includes a wide variety of data related to: Admissions, Degrees, Enrollment, Faculty and Staff, Finances, Graduation and Retention, Tuition and Financial Aid, and other areas.


The Office of Institutional Research collects data from a variety of student, faculty and staff surveys. In addition, OIR staff can provide random samples of students, faculty or staff for individuals who are conducting research or assessment at Miami University.
