Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE) supports the university's planning and decision-making processes through the analysis and dissemination of information about students, faculty/staff, and finances as well as through the administration and analysis of institutional surveys and research projects. OIRE serves as a resource for all Miami University campuses.

Institutional Data

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness serves as a resource for data about the university, including data related to Admissions, Degrees Awarded, Enrollments, Faculty and Staff, Finances, Graduation and Retention Rates, and Tuition and Financial Aid, among others. Institutional Research is responsible for official reporting of university data to external bodies, such as the federal government (IPEDS) and the state (HEI reporting), as well as for using these data to support the university’s planning and decision-making processes.

Fact Book

A comprehensive source of information about the university, including a wide variety of current and historical data for all campuses.

Common Data Set

The CDS is used to provide data for college guidebooks, rankings (e.g., U.S. News rankings), and other external requests. Restricted to the Oxford campus, the CDS provides limited data related to: Admissions, Degrees, Enrollment, Faculty and Class Size, Graduation and Retention, Tuition and Financial Aid, Academic Offerings, and Student Life.

IPEDS Data

The Data Feedback Report is intended to provide institutions a context for examining the data they submitted to IPEDS. The purpose of this report is to provide institutional executives with a useful resource and to help improve the quality and comparability of IPEDS data. The figures in this report provide a selection of indicators for your institution to compare with a group of similar institutions.

Surveys

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness is involved in the preparation, administration, and dissemination of a variety of student, alumni, faculty and staff surveys at Miami University. We conduct both locally-developed surveys as well as national surveys that allow comparisons of Miami students and faculty members with benchmark institutions. The results of these surveys are used throughout the university.
