Access Miami Program summer experience to become year-round in 2027

President's Report

At least four of the students who participated will become full-time AMP students when the year-round program launches in fall 2027. Other students will continue to join AMP for the summer.

That big step forward to becoming part of Miami’s academic year has been a dream goal for creator Ashley Cartell Johnson ’05, clinical professor of Educational Psychology and coordinator of the Inclusive Education program.

For more than 20 years, she has been focused on creating access and inclusive opportunities for students with developmental disabilities.

“My North Star dream and goal in my career at Miami is to create an inclusive and accessible full-time college program for students with I/DD,” she said. "I couldn't be any happier for it to finally all come together. And I cannot imagine anything more meaningful to me than my AMP and Miami students coming together to learn from each other and create impactful and lasting friendships."
