About
Tappan Hall is named for David Stanton Tappan who was Miami University’s eleventh President from 1899-1902. He presented degrees to Miami University’s first three women graduates in 1900 and in the same year guided the University through the tragic typhoid epidemic that affected one third of the student body and took the lives of two of his own children. He was also the last of nine Presbyterian ministers to serve as Miami’s President. Tappan Hall is conveniently located near several dining options, including Maplestreet Commons.
