Elizabeth Reitz Mullenix

Biography

Provost and Executive Vice President Liz Mullenix is in her 19th year as an administrator at Miami. Liz came to Miami in 2006 and served as the Chair of the Department of Theatre for seven years before becoming the Dean of the College of Creative Arts, a position she held for nine years. Prior to coming to Miami, Liz served for 11 years at Illinois State University, where she was the Associate Dean of the College of Fine Arts and a professor of theatre. A cultural historian, Liz has published essays and a book that investigates Civil War era performance and politics. A passionate advocate for the arts, Liz also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for 6 years and is married to a visual artist (painter) and adjunct instructor of art, Robert Mullenix.
