Mike Arnos
Biography
My "career" started in 1999 as a student employee with intramurals sports. As I attempted to leave for graduate school in 2002 I was given the opportunity to stay and become the AD of Club Sports. Roughly 14 years into that role I had the opportunity to grow into a new position with oversight of all non-aquatic based programs. Over the years I've had the wonderful opportunity to teach academic classes, coach collegiate club and youth sports, and grow all sorts of skill sets in Miami Recreation. I've called Oxford home for over 25 years and enjoy the small town feel. As a Miami alum, Miami Merger, and with 3 kids at home I hope to watch them graduate from Miami and ultimately retire here someday from the only real "adult" job I've ever had.
Why I love the Rec
I love that each year we have the opportunity to start with a fresh new group of students with energy and enthusiasm while we also get to reflect and bid farewell to a group of amazing seniors that we've gotten to watch mature and develop over their years with us as employees and participants.
Favorite Rec Moment
As a Miami intramural flag football when I was a sophomore, my first fraternity game ended in a melee of the two teams with me at the bottom of the pile trying to break it up.
