Ruchelle Dunwoody
Biography
I graduated from Thomas More College with a business administration and accounting degree. After working for 10 years in corporate accounting, I changed careers. After completing my graduate degree in Sports Administration at Miami University in 1986, I was hired as the assistant director of club sports. Ten years later, I was promoted to Director of Intramurals, Club Sports, Camps, and Esports. I've had the opportunity to teach academic classes, become a certified NCAA Official, assist with ICA sports, coach youth sports, and grow as a leader.
Why I Love Working at the REC
Because every day is a new opportunity, I'm surrounded by people from many backgrounds who are passionate about sports, fitness, and fun. Plus, working doesn't feel like a job—it's my passion.
Favorite Rec Moment
It's hard to boil it down to one since I've enjoyed working at the REC. However, the memory that comes to mind often is officiating an IM soccer fraternity championship on Cook Field in the rain at 11:00 pm when one of the officials got sick. At the time, I didn't know what soccer was, let alone be able to officiate it, but my staff team needed an extra set of eyes. We survived, and the right team won, despite my abilities. Then, the crew drove to Steak and Shake Hamilton for midnight breakfast.
