Professional Experience
Dr. Johnson maintains clinical practice as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner at Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services. She has previously worked as a family nurse practitioner in retail clinics and occupational health. Prior to that worked inpatient behavioral health as an RN.
Teaching
Dr. Johnson has taught a variety of courses across undergraduate and graduate nursing curricula.
Service
Dr. Johnson provides psychiatric services to patients struggling with substance use disorders. She serves on departmental committees at Miami University, as well as serving on the program excellence committee for the YWCA Hamilton and on the board of advisors for the Association of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.
Scholarship
Dr. Johnson’s research interests include mental health, particularly interpersonal violence, trauma, and resilience. She is currently investigating the relationship between self-defense training, trauma, PTSD symptoms, and resilience.
