Biography
Leroy Burroughs serves as the Director of TRIO Student Support Services at Miami University Regionals and is the 50th President of the Educational Opportunity Association (EOA). Under his presidential theme, "Grounded in Opportunity, Growing in Impact," he leads the association with a dedicated focus on three strategic pillars: Membership Relations, Alumni Relations, and Professional Development.
With over a decade of expertise within TRIO programs, President Burroughs possesses a comprehensive understanding of the student pipeline. His career includes leadership roles as Director of Upward Bound, Academic Success Coach Coordinator for Student Support Services, and Success Coach for Educational Talent Search. He further extended his impact at the state level as a Past President of Ohio TRIO.
Leroy has dedicated his career to mentoring and advising first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. His work spans the entire educational spectrum, guiding students from the 6th grade through successful college graduation.
An expert in student development, he has designed and facilitated workshops covering the full breadth of the academic journey. His areas of impact include high school completion, college preparation, "right-fit" major selection, career readiness, financial aid navigation, and the cultivation of student self-advocacy.
A proud alumnus of Central State University, he holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree. He is a committed member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American men.
Beyond his professional accolades, Leroy is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Dr. Carolyn Y. Burroughs, are the proud parents of four sons and five grandchildren, who affectionately know them as "Sweetie" and "G-Pop."
