VITAL Program

Miami University has partnered with Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership (VITAL), a results-oriented, collaboration between the VA Medical Center (VAMC) and higher education. The VITAL program supports veterans' academic success.

Note: The VITAL program supplements access to counselors on the Miami Hamilton or Miami Middletown campuses—it does not replace it.

Through the VITAL program student veterans have access to:

  • a VA psychologist on campus

  • important benefits and resources

  • someone who can help with VA Services

  • an ally at school who knows the unique needs of student veterans

Services include but are not limited to:

  • treatment for adjustment, stress, anger, depression, anxiety, sleep problems and PTSD

  • referrals and working with university disability services to request academic accommodations

  • obtaining help and resources from within the VA and its affiliates including veterans Benefits Administration and Vocational Rehabilitation
