The Workday Courses and Course Sections Demo is Live

The Workday Student team has officially released a Courses & Course Sections demonstration, which you can access in Workday Learning

The interactive, hands-on demo showcases key functionality and upcoming changes designed with the goal of making your day-to-day work more efficient and intuitive. Please note that this is a demonstration, not training. Structured training opportunities will be offered at a later date to ensure you feel confident in the new processes

Below are the key details on upcoming changes, along with resources to help you prepare. This newsletter is being distributed to ensure you have the context you need to stay informed and ready for the transition, but it is not intended to replace the self-paced demo experience.

Who’s Impacted

If you are someone who creates and maintains courses or views and manages course sections, this demo is relevant to you. Schedulers, Curriculum Managers, and Department Chairs should pay close attention to the new workflows and procedures introduced during the demo.

What’s Changing & When

Key Processes

  • Creating and Managing Courses – Workday enables you to create new courses by entering key academic details such as course title, description, units, and departmental ownership. The platform guides you through required fields and options, ensuring all necessary information is captured for each course record.
  • Finding and Managing Course Sections – You can easily search for, view, and update course sections in Workday. This includes assigning instructional formats, setting enrollment limits, and managing delivery modes, making it simple to keep course offerings organized and up to date.

Timeline

In December, schedulers and curriculum managers will use Workday to develop the Fall 2027 course schedule.

Did You Know?

Course changes at the section level will be automated in Workday, eliminating the need for manual changes!

Learn More

There will be an “Ask the Expert" session held on Tuesday, March 31, at 11:00 a.m. During this session, you will have the opportunity to engage with subject matter experts and gain clarity on what you viewed in the demo. Add the meeting to your calendar using this link: Ask the Expert!
