Make the best choice your first choice.
Already know that Miami is your first choice? If so, apply as an Early Decision applicant. Early Decision is a binding application option for students who know Miami is their first choice and are willing to confirm their enrollment if admitted.
Along with all other application materials, Early Decision candidates must also submit Miami University's Early Decision Agreement (PDF 118KB) by November 15.
Early Decision Advantages
- Higher acceptance rate than other decision plans. Students who apply Early Decision have an advantage over applicants who choose our other application types. Early Decision applicants typically show great personal and academic promise, and send a strong message by indicating Miami as their first choice college. Considering the size of the Early Decision applicant pool, the acceptance rate is typically higher than other decision types.
- Earlier admission decision notification. Early Decision applicants are notified of their admission decision on December 15, six to twelve weeks in advance of the published notification dates for other application types. Early Decision provides peace of mind in knowing you've been admitted to your first choice school in December of your senior year – leaving the rest of the year to focus on the successful completion of your high school career.
- Full consideration for financial aid and scholarships. Miami is committed to making your college experience affordable. Early Decision applicants receive full consideration for both merit and need-based scholarships. Students wishing to be considered for need-based scholarships are encouraged to submit the FAFSA by Miami’s Priority I Deadline of December 1, 2016 and no later than the Priority II Deadline of February 1, 2017.
Our students describe Miami as “what college should be.” Miami University ranks 2nd among universities nationwide, just after Princeton University, for its exceptionally strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, in the U.S.News & World Report rankings. The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2016 also recognized Miami for its "high caliber of student body" and "professors' knowledge and willingness to help" in its "Best and Most Interesting Colleges and Universities" list. And with more than 500 student organizations, you have the opportunities to get involved on campus and develop your leadership skills during your time at Miami. For these reasons and more, it's easy to make Miami your #1 choice. We hope you decide to apply as an Early Decision applicant and be the first to join Miami University’s Class of 2021!
