Early Decision

Make the best choice your first choice.

Do you already know that Miami is your first choice? If so, you should consider applying as an Early Decision applicant. Early Decision is a binding application option for students who know Miami is their first choice and are willing to commit to enroll if admitted.

Early Decision Advantages

Higher acceptance rate than other decision plans. Students who apply Early Decision have an advantage over applicants who choose our other application options. Early Decision applicants typically show great personal and academic promise, and send a strong message by indicating Miami as their first choice college. Considering the small size of the Early Decision applicant pool, the acceptance rate is typically higher than other decision options.

Early admission decision notification. Early Decision applicants are notified of their admission decision on December 15, six to twelve weeks earlier than other applicants. Early Decision provides peace of mind in knowing you've been admitted to your first choice school in December of your senior year – leaving the rest of the year to proudly sport your Miami apparel!

Full consideration for financial aid and scholarships. Miami is committed to making your college experience affordable. Early Decision applicants receive full consideration for scholarships to attend Miami University.

Our students describe Miami as “what college should be.”  In the latest ranking for best undergraduate teaching, U.S.News & World Report lists Miami 3rd among the nation's top universities in the 2014 edition of America's Best Colleges. Miami is also ranked 11th in the nation when it comes to return on (tuition) investment by SmartMoney. And with more than 475 student organizations, you have the opportunities to get involved on campus and develop your leadership skills during your time at Miami. For these reasons and more, we make it easy to make Miami your #1 choice. We hope you decide to apply as an Early Decision applicant and be the first to join Miami University’s Class of 2019!
