Propose A Workshop

Statement of Intent

Global Initiatives is asking faculty and staff planning to propose undergraduate travel credit workshops to be offered during the 2020–21 academic year to first submit a very brief Statement of Intent.

The purpose of the Statement of Intent Form is to afford Global Initiatives and academic departments the opportunity to review travel credit workshop plans before they are submitted as proposals. We want to ensure that:

  • Competition is minimized;
  • Workshops that achieve departmental, divisional and institutional strategic goals are proposed;
  • Faculty and staff are experienced to propose the workshop under consideration;
  • Workshops with an unacceptable level of risk will not be proposed;
  • The enrollment viability of a workshop is examined prior to the proposal phase;
  • All key stakeholders are aware of all ongoing workshop plans;
  • Workshop plans that are not viable at this time are redirected before entering the proposal phase, thus saving time for everyone involved.

The Statement of Intent Form ought to be completed by all undergraduate travel credit workshops planning to be offered during the 2020-21 academic year. Graduate travel credit workshops will be handled on a case-by-case basis. One Statement of Intent is needed per workshop.

Global Initiatives requests that Statement of Intents are submitted by August 23, 2019. Submission of the Statement of Intent Form by August 23 is needed to be considered for eligibility to submit a travel credit workshop proposal during the 2020-21 academic year. Approval of a Statement of Intent does not guarantee approval of a travel credit workshop proposal. The Proposal Form will be revised to mitigate redundancy between the two forms.
