JCS Community

Every year, the Menard Family Center for Democracy hosts a series of events during a week in the fall semester. These events support a variety of on-campus and community-based lectures, workshops, hands-on experiences and interactive dialogues that promote civic education and engagement while connecting Miamians with local, state and national thought leaders.

These events are open to the public, and offer an exciting opportunity to hear from people that have a direct impact on the criminal justice system and their community.

The Hamilton campus of Miami Regionals hosts naturalization ceremonies at the Harry T. Wilks Conference Center.

In previous naturalization ceremonies, the Honorable Stephanie K. Bowman, Magistrate Judge, who serves the U.S. District Court Southern District of Ohio, has presided over the events to swear in hundreds of new citizens.

Musical entertainment is also provided and past events have included performances by Dr. Jeremy Jones and the Miami Men's Glee Club.

The event is free and open to the public, and usually held outside, weather permitting.
