The Common Data Set (CDS) is a collaboration between university representatives and publishers of college guidebooks (U.S. News & World Report, College Board, and Peterson's). Universities across the country complete the CDS questions each year, using standard definitions that aid comparisons between schools, and submit them for inclusion in college guidebooks. The CDS is organized into the following sections.

  • General Information
  • Enrollment and Persistence (including retention and graduation rates)
  • First-Time, First-Year (Freshman) Admission
  • Transfer Admission
  • Academic Offerings and Policies
  • Student Life
  • Annual Expenses (i.e., tuition and fees)
  • Financial Aid
  • Instructional Faculty and Class Size
  • Degrees Conferred

Miami University's CDS includes data for the Oxford campus only and is typically published in August.

If you have questions about how to use or interpret the Common Data Set, visit the Common Data Set Initiative or contact us at InstitutionalResearch@MiamiOH.edu.
