Bargaining Update August 14, 2024

The University met with the Union on August 14, 2024 for collective bargaining negotiations.  The Union presented a counter proposal to the University’s Memorandum of Understanding related to the AI Taskforce (“MOU”).  The Union’s counter proposal removed the preamble sections of the University’s proposal, added language regarding the anonymity of bargaining unit faculty members communications while on the taskforce, and added an obligation on the University not to engage in bargaining over terms and conditions of employment with its bargaining unit members.  The University is reviewing FAM’s revisions to the MOU and will respond at the parties’ next bargaining session.

The Union also presented counter proposals on Leaves, Academic Leaves, and Faculty Evaluations.  The University accepted the Union’s March 13, 2024 proposal on Agreement Construction and presented counter proposals on Separability, Discipline and Discharge, Grievance and Arbitration, and Financial Exigency and Reorganization (responding to the Union’s Financial Exigency, Mandatory Furlough and Program Elimination proposals).

The parties are scheduled to meet again September 12th and 17th.
