Advisory Councils

The Western Center's core, student/faculty-focused programming is shaped by our advisory councils.

Faculty Advisory Council

The Faculty Advisory Council is an interdivisional and interdisciplinary body of faculty and staff who work to ensure that Western Center programming will have broad appeal to students and faculty from across campus. It meets 2-3 times per semester, and each member serves for a 2-year term.

Some of the center's core programming will be loosely organized around a biennial theme — water is the theme for Fall 2019-Spring 2021.

The following is a list of the current Faculty Advisory Council members:

  • Jacque Daugherty (Acting Director, Western Center)
  • Mike Conger (Farmer School of Business - Entrepreneurship)
  • Stephanie Danker (College of Creative Arts - Art Education)
  • Katie Gibson (Libraries)
  • Maria Gonzalez (College of Arts & Science - Biology, water specialty)
  • Ryan Gunderson (College of Arts & Science - Sociology)
  • Joel Malin (College of Education, Health and Society - Educational Leadership)
  • Nik Money (Western Program Director)
  • Roxanne Ornelas (College of Arts & Science - Geography, water specialty)

Alumni Advisory Council

Western's passionate alumni are a major asset to the Western Center's work. The Alumni Advisory Council is made up of both thematic experts who can guide some biennial programming (e.g., experts who have spent their careers addressing issues of water access and regulation), and those most interested in strengthening relationships between alums and current students. It meets 1-2 times per semester, and each member serves for a 2-year term. The following is a list of the current Alumni Advisory Council members:

  • Sherry Patterson Addison (Western College Alumnae Association Board Member)
  • Karen Gotter (Western College Program Alumni Board Member; Watershed Coordinator for Holmes County)
  • Dr. Frances Hoffman (Western College Alumnae Association Board Member)
