Why Miami?
Miami is the perfect mix of small town and big school. I am never bored on this beautiful campus, yet I always feel at home because it is so contained; it is like one big Miami family. Also the state of the art facilities for Speech Pathology and Audiology students was very enticing and continues to be beneficial.
How did you choose your major?
I knew my major before attending college. I shadowed a Speech Therapist in a school setting and it peaked my interest. Since my time at Miami, I have learned different avenues I can pursue after graduate school and my focus and interests have shifted to Speech Pathology or Audiology in a hospital setting and working with an older population, which was not my original plan.
Key Moment at Miami
Over J-term in 2025, I went on an outdoor leadership study abroad in Costa Rica (EDL 281), and it changed my life. I got to see a completely different way of life that promoted simplicity and joy. I formed friendships that I have continued to nurture after I returned, and I have implemented some of their practices into my life such as unplugging and enjoying nature.
Advice to Prospective Students
Miami is a school that can fulfill every type of students. There are so many resources to help you succeed academically and socially. You will meet your life long friends and gain an education that will set you up for success in the future. This truly is my dream school and I can not recommend it enough.
