Changes to expect in the Armstrong Student Center this fall

The Armstrong Student Center is the heart of student life at Miami. It’s a place to connect, eat, relax, study, and have fun. This year, there are even more ways to enjoy the space, from new hangout spots and art to dining options and event resources. Here’s a glimpse into what’s new for the year ahead.

New ways to hang out

Each terrace now has 30 new red Adirondack chairs. The new chairs are the perfect place to study in the sun, chat with friends, or enjoy a bite to eat from the Haines Food Court on the first floor of Armstrong.

New way to reserve space

Want to host an event in the Armstrong Student Center? Armstrong is using a new event reservation system on 25Live. This change brings all spaces on campus under one booking system, so all available event spaces are in one place. Step-by-step instructions, as well as space availability, can be found on Armstrong’s 25Live webpage

New dining

There is a new spot for chicken in Armstrong this year. Chick-fil-a will be opening in the Haines Food Court later this year. This addition will bring extra seating to the first floor as well. New changes to rates and event classifications

There are new rate classifications for events this year. Any event that has a primary audience of current students or students who have officially committed to attending Miami University, and is fully funded by university funds will not be charged any room or equipment fees. “We are so excited about this change and we hope it brings more events into our space,” said Hannah Muldoon-Davis, associate director of the Armstrong Student Center. New art and greenery

New live plants have been added tothe first-floor atrium and the Haines Food Court. The plants are cared for by a local business and are helping bring extra life to the space. In addition to greenery, four new paintings are being hung in the Armstrong Student Center East Wing. These paintings were created by current students, as part of the Art in Armstrong program, and explore students’ culture, personal growth, and more.
