Hollywood Film Producer Reginald Hudlin will receive Miami University’s Freedom Summer of ‘64 Award for his contributions in bringing Black images to screen. The award ceremony will kick off a week-long film festival featuring Miami alumnus and award-winning author Wil Haygood and his latest book, Colorization: One Hundred Years of Black Films in a White World.

Freedom Summer Award

Join us as we honor Reginald Hudlin during an award ceremony, beginning at 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7, in Hall Auditorium. The Freedom Summer of ’64 Award honors champions of civil rights and social justice. It is given in remembrance and recognition of the site at the Western College for Women (now part of Miami University), where 800 young Americans trained to register black voters in the south.

Colorization

Award-winning author Wil Haygood brings to Miami his newest book, Colorization: One Hundred Years of Black Films in a White World, which has received national critical acclaim. His expert storytelling prose takes you on a journey of the long struggle of Blacks and their rise in the film industry.
