Lauren Poythress
About
Lauren has served as the Director of Federal Relations for Miami University since 2024 and is based in Washington, D.C. In this role, she represents and advocates for the university’s interests at the federal level while actively engaging students, faculty, and staff in the legislative process. Lauren co-leads the Government Relations Network with the Director of State Relations.
Prior to returning to Miami University, Lauren spent four years in the Government Affairs Division at FGS Global, a leading global communications and public affairs consultancy. She has also completed congressional internships in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
Lauren graduated cum laude from Miami University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in Psychology and Black World Studies. During her time at Miami, she was deeply involved in leadership and campus organizations, including the Government Relations Network, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Lambda Mu Chapter, Miami’s National Black Law Student Association Pre-Law Chapter, and the Bridges Scholars Organization, where she served as the inaugural president.
