About the Department of Social Sciences and Education
The Department of Social Sciences and Education at Miami University Regionals brings together the strengths of the former Departments of Education and Society, Justice and Community Studies, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Through an integrated learning approach to teaching and learning, the department prepares students to understand people, improve communities, and lead meaningful change.
Our accomplished faculty create a dynamic learning environment that encourages active student participation, critical thinking, service learning, applied research, and community engagement.

Chair's Welcome
Welcome to the newly formed Department of Social Sciences and Education, which brings together the strengths of the departments of Education and Society, Justice and Community Studies, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Our accomplished faculty combine academic expertise with real-world experience to provide high-quality, hands-on learning both online and at our Hamilton campus.
Through collaborative learning, field experiences, and career-focused instruction, we prepare students for success in areas including education, criminal justice, kinesiology and health, sport leadership, social work, psychology, and community engagement. Graduates leave with the critical thinking, communication, leadership, and analytical skills needed to thrive in the workplace, graduate school, or law school.
