AFSCME and FOP Agreements

The University's agreements with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Union and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) establish procedures and rules for employees within these groups.

Bargaining Unions

Miami University recognizes two bargaining unions:

  1. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) encompasses some classified maintenance and service positions.
  2. The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) includes the Miami University police officers (FOP).

AFSCME

The AFSCME Union Agreement is the official recognition of the AFSCME Ohio Council #8, Local Union 209, AFL-CIO. It establishes "a peaceful and reasonable procedure for the resolution of differences" between AFSCME employees and the University, including collective bargaining for "all matters of wages, rates of pay, hours of work, fringe benefits, and their conditions of employment."

FOP

The FOP Agreement officially recognizes the FOP, Lodge No. 38 and establishes the University's procedures and resolution approaches for "wages, hours, and other conditions of employment, of those officers employed by the University’s Police Department on the Oxford Campus." This agreement excludes all other employees of the University.
