Bargaining Update Nov. 15, 2023

The University and the Union met on Nov. 15, 2023 to continue collective bargaining negotiations for the first faculty contract. During the morning session, the Union presented a counter proposal on Dues Deduction as well as a new proposal on Promotion, Tenure and Time, to which the University responded with its own proposal on the Appointment and Promotion of Tenure Track and Tenured Faculty.

In the afternoon session, the University and Union exchanged counter proposals on Purpose (and here). Additionally, the Union presented a counter proposal on Appointment, Renewal and Promotion of TCPL Faculty, and the University presented a counter proposal on Dues Deduction.

At the close of the session, the parties discussed locations for future bargaining sessions. The Union previously provided a list of University buildings as alternative locations for bargaining. In advance of the Nov. 15 session and during the session, the University informed the Union that, as the party seeking to change the location of negotiations, it should provide the University with specific rooms and/or spaces that would be conducive to bargaining. Upon receipt of this information from the Union, the University will review the proposed spaces.

The University and the Union are scheduled to meet next on Dec. 6 and 19, 2023, and Jan. 17 and 31, 2024.
