Bargaining Update Mar. 13, 2024

The University and Union met on March 13 to continue negotiations for an initial collective bargaining agreement. The union started the bargaining session with a financial presentation by Howard Bunsis, professor of accounting at Eastern Michigan University. The stated purposes of Professor Bunsis’ presentation were to provide an analysis of the financial situation of Miami University and the underlying basis for the Union’s total economic package, which consists of 20 compensation and benefits proposals.

Following this presentation, the Union presented counter proposals on Association Rights, Union Access to Information and Facilities, Outside Employment and Professional Activities, Grievance and Arbitration, Faculty Evaluations and Health, Safety and Security. The Union also presented a new proposal on Agreement Construction.

The University responded to the Union with counter proposals on Union Access to Information and Facilities, Health, Safety and Security, Appointments and Discipline and Discharge.

The parties are scheduled to meet next on April 17 and April 26.
