ID Card and Flex Plan

ID Card

When you arrive on campus, you will receive an ID card. This ID card is your ticket to the university — it will give you access to your residence hall and room, serve as your method of payment for meals, and hold your Flex Plan account information. It also will serve as your Recreational Sports Center pass, should you choose to purchase one. If you lose your ID, please report it immediately to a Summer Scholars counselor. There is a $35 replacement charge for lost cards.

Flex Plan

You will have access to a Flex Plan, a temporary debit account that will be linked to your ID card. You or your family may add money to your Flex Plan so that you can use your ID card to pay for extra items and services, such as laundry and vending machines.

  • Money may be added to the account in increments of $5. Please note, there is an administrative charge of 10% each time funds are added.
  • Orders will be processed within 24 hours and students receive an email when funds are added.
  • Money is non-refundable, so be careful not to add too much. At the end of your Summer Scholars session (on move-out day), any unused Flex Plan funds will be cleared from your account.
  • Treat your card like cash — if you lose it, the money in your Flex Plan account could be lost as well. Report a lost card to a Summer Scholars counselor immediately.
  • The cost to wash a load of laundry is $1.75 per load.
  • The cost to dry a load of laundry is $1.75 per load.

Recreational Sports Center

For $20 you can purchase a pass to use the aquatic and fitness facilities at the Miami Recreational Sports Center, and your ID card will also allow you access throughout your Summer Scholars Session. However, the Summer Scholars daily schedule is very full, and on most days you will only have time to use the center between 6-8 a.m. If you are under age 18 and intend to use the center, you must submit the Recreational Sports Center Waiver and Release via your Applicant Status Page. Passes may be purchased via credit card on move-in day.
