Equestrian Team
The nationally recognized Miami Equestrian Team (MUET) is a competitive club team of 100 riders at all levels. The team represents all three riding disciplines Dressage, Hunt Seat, and Western competing in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and the Interscholastic Dressage Association (IDA).
Our riders practice twice a week and compete in 6-10 horse shows over the course of the season that runs from September through May. Miami has had great success with our teams and individual riders earning numerous national titles and rankings.
Miami Bound
This fun and interactive program provides students the ability to explore the opportunities on campus for horse lovers and build relationships with other students who have common interests. Miami Bound will be August 20-24, 2023.
- Ride and lesson daily with trained coaches
- Learn more about the Miami University Equestrian program and become familiar with other facilities on campus
- Meet new students prior to the start of classes

Disciplines
Dressage
The Dressage team began formally in 2008 and has between 25-30 members each semester. Riders work in their weekly lessons to make the horse supple and attentive to the riders aids. We attend 4-6 Regional IDA horse shows a year competing against Otterbein University, The University of Kentucky, Meredith Manor, Oberlin College, Bethany College, and the College of Wooster. Hunt Seat
The Hunt Seat team started in the 1970's and has over 60 riders each semester. They attend 6-10 Regional IHSA competitions a year competing against Georgetown University, Morehead State, University of Cincinnati, University of Louisville, Midway University, University of Kentucky, and Xavier University. Riders work weekly in their lessons on proper equitation, using effective aids. The Hunt Seat team competes both on the flat and over fences. Western
The Western team started in the 1970's and has between 25-30 members each semester. They attend 6-10 Regional IHSA competitions a year competing against Georgetown University, Morehead State, University of Cincinnati, University of Louisville, Midway University, University of Kentucky, and Xavier University. Riders work weekly on developing a solid seat, balanced upper body, and hands that work independently to communicate with the horse. The Western team competes in the horsemanship and reining.
